ArmRosgazprom: Georgia has right to select supplier of materials for North-South gas pipeline reconstruction

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijani Oil and Gas Contraction Trust company is recognized winner of an international tender of the Millennium Challenge Georgia (MCG) for pipes and equipment supply for the new phase of North-South gas main pipeline reconstruction in Georgia. Under the tender terms, Oil and Gas Contraction Trust should supply pipes and equipment at the total amount of USD 6mln within 120 days, Gruzia Online reported.

The new phase of North-South gas main pipeline reconstruction will be financed from a $100mln grant additionally provided by the U.S. government in November 2008 to Georgia as part of the Millennium Challenge program.

ArmRosgazprom CJSC thinks that the selection of the company to supply pipes and equipment for reconstruction of the Georgian section of the gas main pipeline is an internal matter of the Georgian side and it should decide which company should supply the required materials for reconstruction works.

“As for how the participation of the Azerbaijani company in reconstruction of the Georgian section of the gas main pipeline may affect the supply of natural gas to Armenia, it should be noted that the relations in gas supplies are regulated by relevant agreements and do not go beyond them,” the press service of ArmRosgazprom told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.
