Vayots Dzor region of Armenia needs to develop ecotourism

PanARMENIAN.Net - Governor of Vayots Dzor region of Armenia Sergey Bagratyan said that only Noravank church currently serves as a tourism brand for the region.

“However, we aim to develop a tourist complex near Yeghegis village, as there are three temples, which are among historical values of Armenia. Gndevank will become the third stage. Huge funds are needed to this end and it is impossible to solve the task at once, but we try to gradually restore the region’s history to present it to the world,” said Bagratyan.

Answering a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter’s question, he said that the development of ecotourism in the region would be reasonable. “We lack hotels and relevant infrastructures. Besides, the region has plans for horse-breeding development to organize equestrian trips later,” said Bagratyan.
