Raul de Luzenberger: Armenia needs to improve its business environment and focus on export

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan said that it is necessary to reveal enterprises, which have the opportunity to export their goods, as well as promote their development to boost Armenia’s export.

Besides, entrance of international companies to the country should be stimulated, what will allow bringing technologies and knowledge to Armenia, Yeritsyan said at Tasks of Stimulating Armenia’s Export conference.

“Our market is too small, while production for only internal consumption cannot have outlooks. International markets create unlimited demand for Armenian producers,” he said.

Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia Raul de Luzenberger said for his part that the European Union has introduced lower taxes for Armenian goods. Besides, it facilitates implementation of reforms in the country’s customs system, what will allow simplifying the procedure at checkpoints and combating corruption.

“We can have a simplified bilateral trade agreement. GSP+ preferential system provided by the EU is unilateral, while Armenia should in its turn lower tariffs to meet our standards,” he said.

Besides, Luzenberger believes that Armenia should improve the business environment inside the country and focus on export, as it is the country’s future.
