PanARMENIAN.Net - As part of his three-day visit to Belgium, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan delivered a speech at the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs and answered the questions of its members.

Among other issues, Sargsyan referred to shutdown of the old and construction of a new Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Armenia. "The events in Japan have made this matter especially urgent. Naturally, we discuss the matter of increasing our NPP safety," he said.

According to Sargsyan, Armenia cooperates in the field with all international organizations responsible for energy safety, the RA governmental press service reported.

He added that Armenia implements a program of definite measures for securing safety rules at the Armenian NPP, as well as receives assistance, including from the EU, for increasing its safety.
