Armenia, Iran to ink gas purchase and sale agreement

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia and Iran will sign a new gas agreement in the near future, enabling the former to buy gas from the Islamic Republic and sell it to, for example, Georgia, Armenia’s ambassador to Iran Artashes Tumanyan said.

There are no legal obstacles to the deal, he added.

At a meeting with an Iranian delegation, Armenia’s then-Minister of Energy Levon Yolyan proposed signing a purchase and sale agreement, enabling the acquisition and distribution of gas by the South Caucasus country.

The Iranian side, according to Tumayan, has accepted the Armenian Minister’s proposal, and corresponding documents are now being prepared.
