Zdzislaw Raczynski:

Wagner’s music is a good start of a day off

PanARMENIAN.Net - Classical music lover, Poland’s ambassador to Armenia Zdzislaw Raczynski has a habit to start days off with Wagner’s music. “I think Wagner’s music is a perfect start of the day. It’s encouraging and conveys an impulse for the whole day,” he said in an interview with PanARMENIAN.Net.

The ambassador is also fond of Bach. “I love Bach’s compositions for their variety and richness.

Another great man is Mozart, whose music is light and wonderful and at the same time exact as mathematics, where no single note can be replaced.

Tchaikovsky, according to ambassador is the most musical composer. “On the one hand, his music is light but on the other hand it’s very dramatic,” he says.

Liszt and Chopin are also among favorites. “Chopin is the spirit of the nation. His works are nervous but at the same time melodious and masterly. Liszt is a virtuoso, that’s him,” amb. Raczynski says with enthusiasm that infects.

What about Armenian composers?

You know, when I came to Armenia I visited Etchmiadzin where I saw a divine service. That day I fell in love with Armenian language and psalms.

Ambassador Raczynski’s favorite spot beyond Yerevan is Khor Virap. “Maybe its history makes this place so attractive or maybe it’s the sight of Ararat and the border with Turkeys which make it supernatural.

The ambassador also favors Yerevan cafes located near the Opera House and likes walking in the park near Tsitsernakaberd. “Life of a diplomat is very organized. There is no room for surprises and impromptus. Anyway, we can find some time for ourselves.”
