Cornet-AM may merge with VivaCell-MTS

PanARMENIAN.Net - Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) is considering the possibility to absorb Cornet-AM into VivaCell-MTS.

COMSTAR-UTS company, which is in MTS group of companies, announced the launch of process of offering COMSTAR’s products and services under MTS brand until the end of 2011, the press service of MTS (Mobile TeleSystems OJSC) told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

Since 2006, Cornet-AM company, the subsidiary of COMSTAR-UTS in Armenia, has been providing broadband Internet access, the WiMAX wireless access as well as digital local and long-range communication services, etc.

MTS OJSC is the owner of 80% shares of VivaCell-MTS.

“The rebranding will refer only to services and products offered in Russia, Spokesperson of COMSTAR-UTS company Yekaterina Nevskaya told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. “It is early to speak about rebranding decisions, which will be adopted with respect to our subsidiary in Armenia - Cornet-AM,” she said.

COMSTAR – United TeleSystems, a subsidiary of Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (MTS – NYSE: MBT), is the largest fixed-line communication operator in Moscow, which provides operators, corporative clients and private users with telephony, data transfer, Internet access, paid television and other services. The group provides telecommunications services in six federal regions of Russia, as well as in Armenia and Ukraine.
