Object Identifying and Classifying Robot competition summarized in Yerevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Object Identifying and Classifying Robot competition held as part of ArmRobotX has finished in Yerevan.

Rebotec team won the competition, gaining 193 points. The team’s robot classified two balls and three juice cans. The team received a monetary prize at the amount of AMD 300,000. Member of the team Ashot Mashrumyan said that Rebotec worked on its robot for two months.

Other participants of the competition – Polytechnic and TeamX teams - also received monetary prizes at the amount of AMD 50,000 each.

Manager of ArmRobotX open competition Mariam Nahapetyan said that each robot costs around AMD 90-150,000. “We purchase spare parts for robots from other countries. Participants also make certain contributions,” she said, adding that object identifying and classifying robots are intended for operation in the field of waste processing and at plants. However, according Nahapetyan, the number of persons interested in the field development is very limited in Armenia.

The competition organized by the Union of Information Technology Enterprises is aimed at developing robot industry in Armenia, as well as contributing to youth involvement in modern technologies development.
