Nokia-Microsoft deal didn’t affect Symbian based smartphones sale in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Nokia will continue to sell and support Symbian based smartphones and feature phones long after it launches its Windows Phone based smartphone. Symbian software will be updated in the summer, which will bring a new home screen, new widgets, a fast web browser, new icons and updated Ovi Store and Ovi Maps, according to itproportal.com.

Purnima Kochikar, Vice President of Forum Nokia, said that even though Windows Phone 7 will be the primary platform for Nokia, Symbian will continue to deliver great value to the company. The company is planning to overhaul its Symbian portfolio with updated hardware and software. Nokia is planning to strategically invest in Symbian which would allow to 'engage and attract' new and existing Symbian customers.

Symbian software will be updated in the summer, which will bring a new home screen, new widgets, a fast web browser, new icons and updated Ovi Store and Ovi Maps.

According to Nokia mobile phone center (Official representative in Armenia) sales director Vazgen Bakhshetsyan, Nokia in Armenia users are not aware of Nokia announcements.

"Many are not interested in what Nokia said or announced,” he told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. “The contract between Nokia with Microsoft on Windows Phone 7 use as a permanent operating system for Nokia phones had no impact on Symbian Nokia phones which Nokia sells in Armenia. Symbian Nokia phones sales rate is unchangeable.”
