Armenian President: April 24 is the day of our striving for life

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan addressed the people on April 24, Armenian Genocide Commemoration Day.

“Like many others all over the world, today we bow to the memory of innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide,” the President said.

“We ascend silently the Tsitsernakaberd hill because the unspeakable had happened. And we engraved nothing on the walls of the Memorial, because there are no words that can express what we are going through. The remembrance day of the Armenian Genocide victims is not only the day of our nationwide grief but also the day of our striving for life and our moral character. It was due to our unyielding memory that we secured victory in Sardarapat in 1918, freedom and independence for Armenia and Artsakh, and have now the Armenian Diaspora standing beside us,” the President said.

“2015 commemorates not only the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide; it will also mark the anniversary of our memory and our resolve “to live many more millennia and another hundred years,” Sargsyan said.

Armenian President also stated that the Saint Martyrs Church will be built in Yerevan to commemorate martyrs and innocent victims of all times, “as a symbol of our imperishable memory and pledge of life”.
