Expert: geopolitical actors benefit from conflicts, Karabakh is no exceptionMay 4, 2012 - 12:29 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Recognition of Nagorno Karabakh as an independent state is not favourable to some geopolitical circles, head of the European Center for Geopolitical Analysis Mateusz Piskorski said. “Geopolitical actors benefit from any conflict, and Karabakh is no exception,” Piskorski told PanARMENIAN.Net “Existence of conflicts is a perfect method of pressure. However, Nagorno Karabakh has a chance to become an independent state, namely the Armenian Diaspora which already reached recognition of the Armenian Genocide in many countries. The same tactics may prove successful with Karabakh as well, though it is a long-term process,” the analyst stated. Piskorski further said that the Large Near East project may cause serious complications to the regional situation and affect the Karabakh conflict resolution. “Destabilization in Iran and establishment of “Large Azerbaijan” are the sources of threat. Still, I suppose this is not too bad. The region faces confrontation between U.S. and Russia, each with their allies. Let us hope this will not result in open hostilities,” the political expert emphasized.
