PanARMENIAN.Net - Cannes film festival Day Eight: The indecent proposal model-turned-actress Kelly Brook got marked the continuation of the festival commotion.

The actress had a real life indecent proposal when a French millionaire offered her a cheque for one night in bed. The man, known only as Frederic, reportedly approached the model-turned-actress during a photocall session in Cannes for her new film with Keith Lemon, and offered her €1m (£800,000) to sleep with her.

According to The Mirror he began screeching, "Just one night! Please, one night! I have money!""

A bodyguard then came to her rescue and ejected the man from the lavish Majestic Barriere hotel.

The brunette beauty assumed the stunt was organized by notorious prankster Lemon, real name Leigh Francis, but he insisted he had nothing to do with it, The Huffington Post reported.

20 minutes with Brad Pitt

Tuesday, May 22 afternoon on the Croisette, the commotion was all about Brad Pitt, full of smiles during the press conference for Killing Them Softly by director Andrew Dominik -a commotion amplified by the false rumor that journalists were being asked to pay 2,500 euros for a 20-minute face-to-face interview with the star, according to AFP.

Cannes 2012 footwear collection from Francesco Russo

For four consecutive years, creative designer Francesco Russo of the Sergio Ross fashion group presented a special footwear collection especially for the red carpet walks at the Cannes Film Festival.

Three shoe models make up the collection; the main model is a pair of glamour sandals made with redsilk in golden and silver colors, with 11 cm high heels decorated with Swarovski crystals, geniusbeauty.com reports.

Surrealism and bonobo monkeys in Holy Motors

The most rapturous audience reception at Cannes has gone to "Holy Motors," a disorienting, whirling dream of a movie by French director Leos Carax,according to the Associated Press.

Starring Denis Lavant as a man who adopts a dozen wildly different personas during the course of a long Paris day, the film includes surrealist scenes, tender moments, a song by pop star Kylie Minogue and the unexpected appearance of bonobo monkeys.

The film, which has its red-carpet gala on Wednesday, May 23 drew whoops and cheers at the end of its first press screening — but left other baffled viewers shaking their heads.

In "Holy Motors," Lavant portrays, among other characters, a beggar woman, a dying old man, a knife-wielding killer and a filthy gnome dragging a supermodel (Eva Mendes) through the city's sewers.

He said the hardest scene was the one in which his character interacts with the two monkeys.

"That was a bit scary," Lavant said. "Whoever you are acting with in a film, there are a lot of things that are unknown, but there's sort of an unacknowledged code. We share the same code of communication among human beings. When you're acting with a bonobo monkey it's much more difficult."

It's a dramatic return — but don't ask Carax what he wants the public to take away from the film.

Star power in Walter Salles’ On the Road

The 8th day of Cannes festival featured Walter Salles’ “ On the Road”.

Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund and director Walter Salles brought more star power to the Croisette mid-day Wednesday, May 23 during the photocall and press conference for Competition film On the Road, based on the famous Jack Kerouac book, hollywoodreporter says.

The story is based on the years Kerouac spent travelling the United States in the 1940s with his friend Neal Cassady and several other figures who would go on to fame in their own right, including William S. Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg.

New wave in Bertolucci’s “Me and You”

The spirit of the new wave is revived (albeit in apolitical form) by the 72-year-old Bernardo Bertolucci in his new film Me and You, a slight but engaging two-hander showing out of competition in Cannes. It's an intimate, disorientating and highly charged encounter between a young man and an older woman, who find themselves having to share a cramped basement flat which they cannot leave for one week. There are resonances with the director's The Dreamers, his adaptation of Gilbert Adair's novel, and perhaps even with Last Tango In Paris.

Bertolucci, and his actors Antinori and Falco, sketch out the growing and touching relationship that develops between the pair: not quite friends, not lovers, perhaps not even siblings exactly – but strange allies against all the unhappiness that this world can throw at them, The Guardian reported.

The ninth day of the festival will feature Carlos Reygadas’ “Post Tenebras Lux.”

The next movie in the day’s program is The Paperboy. The movie stars Matthew McConaughey as a journalist who heads back home to Florida to investigate a murder case where the death row inmate (John Cusack) might be an innocent man.
