Acer launches Android tablet boasting series of powerful specs

PanARMENIAN.Net - PC manufacturer Acer launched on Wednesday, June 13 its latest Android tablet to hit the market, boasting an HD display and a series of powerful specs, Mashable reports.

The 32GB Iconia Tab A700 tablet - which is currently available for pre-sale in U.S. and Canada for $449.99 - runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Google’s latest mobile operating system.

Available in black and silver, the tablet features a 10.1-inch full HD 1080p backlit display that produces beautiful images and HD video, with 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution that’s 55% higher in pixel density than many other tablets on the market.

Powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, the sleek device caters to fast web-browsing. Other specs include an HDMI port, a micro-USB port for syncing and transferring files and supports up to 64GB MicroSD cards.

The Iconia Tab A700, which comes with high-quality Dolby Mobile 3 sound, can also be connected via HDMI to an external sound system.

The graphics are also well suited to playing mobile games, thanks to the tablet’s 12-Core GeForce NVIDIA GPU. The system is a strong pick for gamers - processor performance rates are 2.6 times faster and graphics that are three times faster compared to previous generation processors.

Meanwhile, its 9800 mAh battery allows the device about 10.5 hours of video playback or nearly eight hours of web-browsing.

The news comes a little more than a week after Acer became one of the first manufacturers to reveal Windows 8 tablets at the Computex trade show in Taiwan. The Acer Iconia W700 and W510 include pop out of keyboard docks, which transition from laptops into tablets.
