U.S. imposes new sanctions on Hezbollah for backing Assad govt. August 10, 2012 - 19:58 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The U.S. Treasury on Friday, August 10 imposed a new round of economic sanctions against Hezbollah for providing support to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government, Reuters said. The Treasury Department's latest actions against Syria will freeze any assets Hezbollah may have under U.S. jurisdiction and prohibit Americans and U.S. companies from dealing with them. Hezbollah has been providing training, advice and extensive logistical support to the government of Syria, the U.S. Treasury said in a statement announcing the financial penalties.   Top stories Authorities said a total of 192 Azerbaijani troops were killed and 511 were wounded during Azerbaijan’s offensive. In 2023, the Azerbaijani government will increase the country’s defense budget by more than 1.1 billion manats ($650 million). The bill, published on Monday, is designed to "eliminate the shortcomings of an unreasonably broad interpretation of the key concept of "compatriot".
