Expert deems reoccurrence of Libyan scenario hardly possible in Syria

PanARMENIAN.Net - The West, particularly the U.S. will hardly play out the “Libyan scenario” in Syria, Director of RA NAS Institute of Oriental Studies said.

As Ruben Safrastyan noted, the reoccurrence of the “Libyan scenario” will claim even more causalities than in Libya.

“The U.S. won’t offer military solution to the problem, in view of the upcoming presidential elections,” he said, stressing Russian and Chinese stance in the UN Security Council, Iran’s active counteraction, as well as Syria’s developed air defense system among other factors staving off the West’s military intervention.

The expert further called attention to Damascus’ possessing chemical weapons stockpile, viewed as extreme measures by the authorities.
