Steve Carell’s “Way, Way Back” comedy shopped to foreign buyers

PanARMENIAN.Net - Foreign buyers are getting their first chance to snap up rights to the Steve Carell-Toni Collette comedy-drama The Way, Way Back, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Sierra/Affinity is selling the project at the Toronto Film Festival, along with other high-profile titles including Lynne Ramsay's Jane Got a Gun, starring Natalie Portman, and Ryan Gosling's feature directorial debut, How to Catch a Monster, starring Christina Hendricks.

OddLot Entertainment and Sycamore Pictures are co-financing Way Back, which shot this summer in Massachusetts. They are co-producing with The Walsh Company.

The flm also stars Sam Rockwell, Allison Janney, AnnaSophia Robb, Maya Rudolph, Amanda Peet, Rob Corddry, Zoe Levin and Liam James.

Jim Rash and Nat Faxon wrote and directed the movie, about a lonely teenage boy who comes into his own over the course of a summer through an unlikely friendship with the manager of a local water park. The boy's mother (Collette) alienates her young son through her determined efforts to make her relationship work with her carousing boyfriend (Carell) whose disingenous attempts to build a family are immediately transport to the boy.

Kevin Walsh is producing Way, Way Back with Sycamore's Tom Rice. OddLot's Gigi Pritzker is executive producing with Faxon, Rash, Sycamore's Bill Nearn and George Parra.
