Cyprus FM condemns Baku over Azeri axe-killer's release

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with his Cypriot counterpart Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis.

At Cyprus-hosted meeting, the parties focused on political issues, cooperation in the framework of international organizations, trade and economic partnership among other issues.

Expansion of ties in the sectors of culture and tourism, facilitation of visa regime and formation of free trade zone were also on discussion agenda.

The parties further focused on the settlement of the Cyprus problem and Karabakh conflict.

Ms. Kozakou-Marcoullis condemned Baku’s release and heroization of Azeri assassin Ramil Safarov, noting that the incident may undermine peaceful settlement of Karabakh issue.

The Cypriot Foreign Minister welcomed Armenia’s efforts in upholding regional stability. She expressed regret about the failed attempt at rapprochement with Turkey over Ankara’s refusal to ratify Protocols with Armenia.

The officials’ meeting was followed by a joint news conference.
