Education Minister: corruption risks major problem for system

PanARMENIAN.Net - Corruption risks represent a major problem for the university system, Armenian Minister of Education and Science said.

“The Education Ministry’s anti-corruption program aims to minimize these risks. However, the low effectiveness is explained by the students’ inability to acknowledge the need for high-quality education,” Armen Ashotyan said, adding that the ministry is already developing 2012-2013 strategy aiming to speed up countering of corruption risks.

Dwelling on the education institutions, particularly funding mechanisms of schools and universities, Minister Ashotyan noted that a competitive fund will be set up, with the best university projects to receive state funding.
