Samsung sues Apple over iPhone 5 patent violationOctober 2, 2012 - 20:40 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Samsung has sued Apple in the U.S., claiming that the iPhone 5 violates eight of its patents, Digital Spy said. The allegedly-infringed patents include a method of syncing content across multiple devices and a means of capturing and sending video over the internet. Samsung said in a statement: "We have always preferred to compete in the marketplace with our innovative products, rather than in courtrooms. However, Apple continues to take aggressive legal measures that will limit market competition." It added that it had "little choice but to take the steps necessary to protect our innovations and intellectual property rights". The dispute is the latest in a long-running and increasingly bitter patent war between Apple and Samsung. The latter has filed claims against earlier iPads and iPhones, while the former recorded a significant court victory over its rival in August, netting it $1 billion (£620 million) in damages.
