Samsung sues Apple over iPhone 5 patent violation![]() October 2, 2012 - 20:40 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Samsung has sued Apple in the U.S., claiming that the iPhone 5 violates eight of its patents, Digital Spy said. The allegedly-infringed patents include a method of syncing content across multiple devices and a means of capturing and sending video over the internet. Samsung said in a statement: "We have always preferred to compete in the marketplace with our innovative products, rather than in courtrooms. However, Apple continues to take aggressive legal measures that will limit market competition." It added that it had "little choice but to take the steps necessary to protect our innovations and intellectual property rights". The dispute is the latest in a long-running and increasingly bitter patent war between Apple and Samsung. The latter has filed claims against earlier iPads and iPhones, while the former recorded a significant court victory over its rival in August, netting it $1 billion (£620 million) in damages. The number of new smartphones delivered with Android jumped to 162.1 million in the first three months in 2013. “We believe Samsung generates more revenue and profit from the Android platform than Google does,” Neil Mawston said. The service now also makes it easier for users to add new contacts sent to them by friends, and has support for Simplified Chinese. Partner news |
