Plus Camerimage honors Oscar-winning helmer Alan Heim

PanARMENIAN.Net - Poland's Plus Camerimage festival will honor the Oscar-winning filmmakers Alan Heim and Steven Okazaki as part of the fest's 20th anniversary, which runs Nov. 24- Dec.1, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Heim, the Oscar-winning editor of Bob Fosse's All That Jazz (1979) will receive the festival's lifetime achievement honor for editing. Heim's credits include such landmark works as Network (1976) Hair (1979) and the TV series Holocaust (1978) as well as more recent features such as American History X (1998) and The Notebook (2004).

The documentarian Okazaki will receive Plus Camerimage's outstanding achievement award for documentary filmmaking. The Japanese-American filmmaker has received four Oscar nominations, winning the Academy Award in 1991 for the short Days of Waiting. Much of his career has been devoted to the subject of American-Japanese relations. Days of Waiting looked at the U.S. internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. The Mushroom Club, which received an Oscar nomination in 2005, looked at the impact of the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima sixth years after the event.

Both Okazaki and Heim will be honored at the Plus Camerimage's closing night ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 1.

Other VIPs attending this year's Plus Camerimage festival include David Lynch, who will also receive a lifetime achievement honor; and Keanu Reeves, who will open the festival with his new documentary, Side By Side, on Nov. 24.
