Van-Yerevan direct flight project frozenOctober 5, 2012 - 12:42 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Van-Yerevan direct flight operation project is frozen, the head of Van Young Businessmen Association said. As Kadri Salaz noted during Yerevan-hosted Armenian–Turkish business forum, the decision bears merely a political character. Representative of Van’s tourism industry Sayed Binet, in turn, slammed the decision, noting that the direct flight would have taken only an hour. “The issue will be discussed during the current event,” he said, voicing hope that compromise solutions for reducing the journey duration will be reached at the event. The forum is organized by Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen (Employers) of Armenia (UMBA) in the framework of USAID-funded Support to Armenia-Turkey Rapprochement Project (SATR). Turkish-Armenian Business Development Council (TABDC) is represented as partner of organization of joint forums. UMBA invited over 50 businessmen from Eastern Turkey, representing such sectors of economy as light industry, petroleum and construction industries, catering trade, healthcare, and jewelry sector, etc. The participants will focus on the current stage of bilateral relations, summarizing the outcomes of the business-cooperation.
