Russia presses Armenia into joining Eurasian Union – paper

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc member Davit Shahnazaryan deemed the Eurasian Union as Moscow’s campaign project, helping Russia create a bloc tantamount to the EU, Aravot daily reports.

In conversation with the paper’s reporter, Mr. Shahnazaryan noted the EU as an institution guided by universal human values, dubbing the Eurasian Union a political model of a new empire with vague future.

“Joining the Customs Union won’t favor Armenia’s interest. It will restrict the country’s sovereignty,” the ANC member said, adding that Russia keeps pressing Armenia into joining the Eurasian Union.
