FAAE: Bratislava church passed over to Armenian community

PanARMENIAN.Net - January 30, 2013 was a remarkable day for the Forum of the Armenian Associations of the Europe (FAAE) and Slovakia’s Armenian community.

An agreement was signed on Jan 30, granting FAAE president, head of Slovakia’s Armenian community Ashot Grigorian, the management of one of Bratislava’s ancient churches with a goal to consecrate it as Armenian Apostolic. Mr Grigoryan pledged to cover the expenses of the church and organize religious events.

Father Barsegh Pilavchian, in turn, promised to conduct regular services at the Armenian church, with Father Tiran Petrosian voicing readiness to more often send clergymen from Vienna.

The church, founded in 14th century, was renovated in 19th and 20th centuries.

The move aimed to contribute to the development and maintenance of Slovakia’s Armenian community, FAAE press service reported.
