At the meeting, the envoy, on behalf of incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan, offered congratulations on the Patriarch's 80th birthday and 36th anniversary of enthronization. Ilia II thanked the envoy, further expressing confidence for the two nations and churches to strengthen their ties, based on friendship and fraternity, and resolve their differences through trust and mutual understanding. The parties also focused on Yerevan-Tbilisi ties, interchurch dialogue, stressing the importance of preservation and restoration of Georgia-located Armenian churches, Foreign Ministry press service reported.
