RPA rep: Sargsyan- Hovannisian talks will benefit political system

PanARMENIAN.Net - The negotiations between Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannisian will benefit the people, state and political system, member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Artak Davtyan said.

“The opposition may assume the post of the head of an anti-corruption commission and other monitoring institutions,” Mr Davtyan said, adding that the opposition’s involvement in those commissions will contribute to the formation of the checks and balances system in Armenia.

Free Democrats party representative Anush Sedrakyan, in turn, stressed the need for the opposition to pursue a more cautious policy.

“The opposition must consider public interests. It should not fail the process. It must fulfill the functions that will enable it to get involved in anti-corruption struggle and implementation of the reforms,” she said.
