SCR posts 12.4% cargo traffic growth in Jan-Feb![]() March 27, 2013 - 18:14 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - In January-February 2013 South Caucasus Railway (SCR) transported 414.3 thousand tons of cargo, growing by 12.4%, compared with the same period of 2012. In export railway, 61.3 thousand tons of cargo was transported, growing by 7% against 2012 index. The volume of freight in import traffic reached 143.4 thousand tons, down the index of January-February 2012 by 2.3%. In the local rail traffic 209.6 thousand tons of cargo were carried (up 27.5%) in January-February 2013. The railway is gradually increasing its key performance indicators, including the volume of freight traffic. Improving the reliability of the railway infrastructure has reduced the delivery time and the risk of cargo loss or damage, SCR press service reported. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision.
