David Bowie video “The Next Day” to star Gary Oldman, Marion CotillardMay 8, 2013 - 14:58 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - David Bowie is using his rolodex of Academy Award winners to rubber stamp his return to the music scene after an absence of 10 years, The Hollywood Reporter said. For the third single from his album The Next Day, Bowie's video for the song of the same name stars Gary Oldman and Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard. The third release is the second to be directed by avant-garde filmmaker Floria Sigismondi, following the previous video for 'The Stars (Are Out Tonight)' starring Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton. Set in a British bar, Bowie plays a Christ-like figure, Oldman portrays a priest and Cotillard plays a saint-like character while a Cardinal dishes out cash and a nun prays in the film for 'The Next Day.' Cotillard and Oldman starred opposite one another in The Dark Knight Rises. Sigismundi also directed The Runaways and the video for Justin Timberlake's 'Mirrors.' Bowie and Oldman have worked together before. They recorded a duet of Bowie's 'You've Been Around' for guitarist Reeves Gabrels' album "The Sacred Squall Of Now" and also worked together on the Jean-Michel Basquiat biopic Basquiat with Bowie starring as Andy Warhol and Oldman in the role of a fellow painter Albert Milo.
