Orlando Bloom’s "Zulu" closes Cannes Film Fest

PanARMENIAN.Net - The 2013 Cannes Film Festival wrapped up on Sunday, May 26, with the screening of out-of-competition film "Zulu". Orlando Bloom and Forest Whitaker showed up at the premiere of their latest film held at the Palais des Festivals in South of France, AceShowbiz said.

"Zulu" is a crime thriller film from director Jerome Salle. Based on Caryl Ferey's book of the same title, it centers on two Cape Town cops who are called in to investigate the murder of Sprikboks' rugby team player's 18-year-old daughter.

Whitaker plays chief detective Ali Sokhela of Capetown's "Serious Violent Crime Unit", while Bloom stars as Brian Epkeen, a white officer and Sokhela's subordinate whose family was originally involved in the establishment of apartheid.

"I met the actual gang members from the different communities: the Zulu gang leaders, and the different members out of the prisons," Whitaker said of his preparation for "Zulu" to Huffington Post. "I find that it helps to find the source of the character."

The Cecil Gaines of upcoming film "The Butler" then added, "The violent crimes unit took me around quite a bit ... which helped me understand what it was like to be around the townships."

South African stars Conrad Kemp and Tanya van Graan also support the feature.
