Civil movement urges Russian envoy to help prevent looming gas hike

PanARMENIAN.Net - An Armenian civil movement issued an address to Russian Ambassador Ivan Volynkin, urging him to influence the policy of GazProm and its subsidiary, ArmRosGazprom in reconsidering a looming gas price hike in Armenia.

The message drew the envoy’s attention to difficult social situation of the Armenian citizens to be further exacerbated by a gas price increase, which will, in turn, entail a hike in the costs of utilities, transportation, food products.

No oppression can be tolerated infinitely, and clearly, such economic policy can lead to social protests, civil disobedience and nationalization of the monopolies, the statement said.
