Iranian envoy: OSCE MG uninterested in Karabakh conflict resolutionJuly 12, 2013 - 14:05 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Regional security will be threatened unless the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is resolved, Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan said. “Iran has a land border both with Azerbaijan and Armenia, and instability would have a negative impact on the near-border provinces anyway,” ambassador Mohsen Pak Ayeen said, quoted by the Azerbaijan Press Agency. As to Iran’s possible mediation in the conflict, Ayeen said that Armenia and Azerbaijan should give consent in this regard. “With agreement from both sides, Iran will start meetings, discussions with relevant countries and put up its complex project for discussion as an influential country of the region, country chairing the Non-Aligned Movement and one of the most active members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation,” he said. Commenting on the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group, the Iranian ambassador said that Minsk Group hasn’t achieved any tangible result so far. “What has Minsk Group done up to now? They have done nothing, except several meetings with predictable results. We do not think that the Minsk Group members that are beyond the region are interested in the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. This problem should be solved by the countries of the region,” he said. Top stories Six total incidents have burned 19 old-growth trees.
