Eurozone industrial production falls by 0.3% in May

PanARMENIAN.Net - Eurozone industrial production fell by 0.3 per cent in May, compared with April 2013. Moreover, industrial production in EU decreased by 0.6 per cent, neurope.eu reports.

Compared with April, among the EU Member States for which data are available, industrial production fell in thirteen, rose in nine and remained stable in the United Kingdom. Data from Belgium, Cyprus, Hungary, Austria and Slovenia were not available.

The largest decreases were registered in Romania (-10.7 per cent), Lithuania (-6.3 per cent) and Sweden (-3.8 per cent) while the highest increases were recorded in Portugal (+6.1 per cent), Latvia (+2.2 per cent) and Estonia (+2.0 per cent).

On the other hand, compared with the same month in 2012, the largest decreases were registered in Ireland and Sweden (both -7.7 per cent), Bulgaria (-6.0 per cent) and Finland (-5.3 per cent), and the highest increases in Lithuania (+21.6 per cent), Estonia (+6.3 per cent) and Portugal (+4.5 per cent).

In May 2013 compared with April 2013, Eurozone industrial production in energy rose by 0.1 per cent while in regard with May 2012 it rose by 0.2 per cent. In addition production of durable consumer goods in Eurozone dropped by 2.3 per cent compared with April and by 6.2 per cent in regard with May 2012. Capital goods decreased by 1.5 per cent (April 2013) and by 0.9 per cent (May 2012). Intermediate goods grew by 0.4 per cent and decreased by 2.6 per cent, while non-durable consumer goods increased by 0.6 per cent and by 0.1 per cent respectively.
