Consumers Association chair: 50% hike in transport costs expected

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia may see a 50% hike in transport costs over recent increase in gas tariffs, Armenia’s Consumers Association NGO chair said.

“The whole of our economy depends on the gas pipe,” Armen Poghosyan told a news conference in Yerevan.

However, he was skeptical over a possibility for the hike to cause social riot. In this context, he recommended alternative means of transport, including electricity-powered vehicles.
