Lady Gaga shocks guests at art event

PanARMENIAN.Net - Lady Gaga shocked guests by getting involved with performance art at a recent benefit, Belfast Telegraph reports.

The outrageous singer has been making her return to the limelight following her hip surgery earlier this year. While she sparked rumours of a toned-down image after she was seen with darker hair and subtle make-up last week, the star still knows how to shock.

She attended the 20th Annual Summer Benefit for the Watermill Center on Saturday, July 27, which was held at the venue in New York City. The centre is a billed as a "laboratory for performance" where up-and-coming artists are encouraged to test out ideas.

The festivities included several displays, one of which Gaga couldn't stay away from. "There was a casket with a totally naked woman lying in what looked like a pool of blood. On a table nearby there was a row of little spoons - no one had touched them, because no one knew what they were for. [Wilson] gave two spoons to Gaga and [artist] Marina... and Gaga dipped the spoon right between the artist’s legs, and took a sip," an insider told New York Post.

"[She then] proceeded to lick the spoon."

Before joining in with the show she splashed out $60,000 on a "wall-mounted quartz brick" by artist Marina Abramovic.

Hugh Jackman and Winona Ryder were also at the event, but it was Gaga who most of the crowd were interested in.

Some guests also showed off their moves with dancers covered in body paint, although it's unknown if the 27-year-old singer was one of them.

She was once again the centre of attention later in the evening when a performer tried to get her involved in the show.

"[The artist] ran at her, but was then restrained by these rubber bungee straps and fell into a pile of dirt, and was clawing at the dirt," the insider explained.

Although Gaga enjoyed getting involved on the night, she also requested some time to herself. When she visited the bathroom, the star's minders cordoned off the area so she could be on her own.

The star was treated for a labral tear in her right hip earlier this year and has since taken time off. She has now confirmed she'll make her comeback at the MTV Video Music Awards next month, when she'll perform the debut single Applause from her upcoming album ARTPOP.
