Phone 5S fingerprint scanner shown in mock up

PanARMENIAN.Net - Designer Martin Hajek has released a "Lord of the Ring" gallery featuring detailed mock ups of the alleged fingerprint scanner that will be found on the iPhone 5S. Using information from leaks and insider reports, Hajek shows the fingerprint scanner as being found inside of the home button, with a glowing light surrounding it, Pocker-int said.

The fingerprint scanner on the iPhone 5S is said to add an extra security measure for users. It will allow them to get rid of their passcode through the iOS 7 software, and instead, have the fingerprint scanner perform the security check. Apple has kept a tight lock on any leaks regarding the iPhone 5s' new technology. The first part for the fingerprint sensing home button didn't leak until September - so consider everyone still a bit clueless.

Hajek uses one leak in particular from over the weekend for most of his inspiration. CTechCN leaked alleged photos of the iPhone 5S' packaging, showing a light surrounding the home button. “It's still not clear if the ring lights up or not, something we'll probably have to find out for sure when Apple's 10 September media event rolls around.

So let's theorise a little bit, because that's all we can do at this point. If we had to guess, the iPhone 5S fingerprint scanner will be rather intuitive. Since the majority of users awake their iPhone through the home button, when a user clicks on the home button to awake an iPhone the fingerprint scanner will accept or deny them as the owner. If accepted, they will be taken straight to the home screen of iOS 7; if they aren't accepted, they will be forced to manually enter in a passcode,” Pocker-int said.

According to The Wall Street Journal, placing a finger on a computer or smartphone has long been proposed as a way to avoid the need for passwords to authenticate users of computers and other devices. People familiar with the matter said last week that Apple will include a fingerprint scanner on the more expensive of two iPhones it is expected to unveil Tuesday, Spetember10 at an event at its Cupertino, Calif., headquarters.

Because of Apple's influence, other companies are likely to follow. At least one new smartphone running Google Inc.'s GOOG +0.96% Android operating system to be released this year will include a similar fingerprint sensor, though it is unclear if that phone will be sold in the U.S, a person familiar with the matter said.
