New “Saw” film reportedly in the works at Lionsgate

PanARMENIAN.Net - An eighth installment of "Saw" franchise is reportedly in the works, despite report that the Jigsaw's journey ended in "Saw 3D". As AceShowbiz reveals citing Bloody Disgusting, Lionsgate is active in seeking a new direction for the next entry in the horror series after its three-year break.

Created by James Wan and Leigh Whannell, "Saw" was released annually since being first launched in 2004. The last movie came out in 2010. Despite being dubbed on home media as "The Last Chapter", it did offer loopholes that allow the titular killer to return.

The studio is said in no rush as they are looking for "the perfect take to move forward." It's unclear if Wan who was always involved in the previous seven films either as a director, a writer or a producer will return for the upcoming installment.

The filmmaker who is currently busy working on "Fast and Furious 7" once said that he was done with horror genre. "I'm going to go on record and say I am finished with the horror genre. 'Conjuring' and 'Insidious 2' are my two last scary movies," he said. "I spent the last ten years of my life doing this. It's time for a change, for goodness sake!...Hollywood puts you in a box. If you do a successful comedy, then you're known as The Comedy Guy. If you do a successful car chase movie, then you become that guy. So I'm a student of cinema, so I just want to make sure I get the chance to make other kinds of films."
