Oscar winner Adrien Brody to star as Charles V in "Emperor" May 19, 2014 - 17:39 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Adrien Brody has signed on to star in Lee Tamahori's Emperor, playing the title role as 16th century Emperor Charles V, The Hollywood Reporter said. The feature, from an original script by The Devil's Double screenwriter Michael Thomas III, adapted by Jeffery Hatcher (The Dutchess), is set to begin shooting this August. Principle photography will be in the Czech Republic and Belgium. Corson World Sales is handling sales on the project and Paradigm Talent Agency are supporting with casting. Emperor is described as a look at a debauched world of wealth, sex, manipulation and treason. "I have long admired Lee's work and a true fan since he blew me away with Once Were Warriors,” said Brody in a statement. “When Lee approached me to play the role of Charles V - a man with great power, and greater flaws - whose demons took his empire to the brink - I felt compelled to accept the challenge.” Brody last worked with Corson on Paul Haggis' Third Person, which Sony Pictures Classics is bowing in the U.S. on June 27.
