EU, Ukraine to sign Association Agreement economic chapter

PanARMENIAN.Net - The European Union and Ukraine will sign the economic chapter of the Association Agreement before the EU summit on June 27, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy said Wednesday, June 4, according to RIA Novosti.

"We will sign the association agreement with Georgia and Moldova at June 27 just ahead of the European Council in presence of 28 head of states and governments. For Ukraine we’ve already signed the political chapters of the Association agreement on March 21. And the remaining parts, we will sign them at the latest also at the June 27 of this year," he said.

Ukraine's President-elect Petro Poroshenko said earlier Wednesday he was ready to sign the economic part of the agreement on the association with the European Union and enter a free trade zone with the EU after his inauguration on June 7.

"I am ready to sign the economic part of the agreement on the association and introduce a free-trade zone with the EU immediately after the inauguration," Poroshenko said during his meeting with Austrian President Heinz Fischer in Warsaw.
