Fridtjof Nansen museum, historic memorial open in Yerevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - A Fridtjof Nansen museum and the St. Mary church and memorial were opened in Yerevan’s Nor Nork community as a part of Erebouni-Yerevan 2796 celebration program.

About 30 monuments commemorating tragic pages of Armenian history, national heroes and friends of Armenia have been installed on the territory of the memorial, including those to Saint Gregory the Illuminator, Vardan Mamikonyan, Georges Byron and many others.

The project was initiated by benefactors, Honored Doctors of Armenia Karlen and Sara Yesayan.

President Serzh Sargsyan and Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan attended the opening ceremony and were briefed on the work completed. They also visited Nansen museum featuring various materials on the famous explorer and humanitarian.
