Ameria leadership training: top experts share better management tips

PanARMENIAN.Net - Professor Manfred Kets de Vries, Professor of Leadership Development at INSEAD, one of the world's leading graduate business schools, is hosting leadership master classes in Yerevan at the invitation of Ameria Group of Companies.

Ameria’s management staff, partners and public agencies, as well as local and international organizations are participating in the Oct 14-15 master classes.

As Professor Kets de Vries stated at a briefing, having visited the country several times, he formed an idea of the Armenian leadership style. The expert characterized it as more uncompromising, a leftover of Armenian history's hierarchal structure: kings, authoritarian regime, Soviet traditions. He further expressed hope for Armenian leaders to make use of a more fluent Mediterranean style.

As the expert noted, with several types of leadership practiced around the world – systemic, political, charismatic – Armenia applies a mixture of those: a patrimonial type similar to that in China. In this context, he advised that Armenian leaders should be more playful, there being a strong relationship between the ability to play and creativity.

The Professor further shared some secrets for having more humane, effective and team-oriented organizations. He advised having better knowledge of yourself and how you come across to others, learning how to get the best out of your team. The Professor warned against being overly self-indulgent and creating a Gulag-like atmosphere in the company.

Elisabet Engellau, Professor of Management at INSEAD business school, in turn, pointed out lack of communication among problems common to many organizations. She characterized trust and openness as well as use of emotional intelligence among main aspects for successful leadership.

The two-day training course will provide broader understanding of highly efficient teams, corporate culture and introduction of reforms.

The second day of training will focus on boosting the leadership skills of Ameria’s managerial staff, use of efficient motivation tools and constructive change within the company.

According to Ameria Development Director Tigran Jrbashyan, the maser classes will greatly contribute to the team's self-discovery and improvement of skills.

"We invest major sums to boost our team’s proficiency, enabling them to benefit from the experience of top experts in leadership, in forming their approach on the matter," Jrbashyan said during the briefing.

According to the report, in previous years, the annual America-initiated event was held in cooperation with Moscow Skolkovo management school.

Ameria Group of Companies is one the most aggressively developing financial groups in the Armenian market providing a wide range of advisory and financial services. The Group renders comprehensive financial support to clients representing almost all sectors of social and economic activity in Armenia and its regions.
