Azeri attempt to undermine Artsakh's work at World Travel Market curbed

PanARMENIAN.Net - Cultural and historical heritage as well as tourist potential of Artsakh was presented at World Travel Market London-hosted annual exhibit, along with the wine and food tasting events which attracted a great number of visitors.

This time as well, Azeri side was quick to start a provocation, attempting to undermine the work of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic delegation by blocking the entry to the hall. The Azeri embassy employees were also among the action participants. The provocation, however, was curbed, with security guards escorting the demonstrators out.

As ArmeniaToday reported, quoting the head of the NKR governmental department of tourism Sergey Shahverdyan, the Azeri behavior was triggered by the failure to promote the Baku-initiated anti-Armenia resolution on "prevention of tourism propaganda in occupied territories" in UN World Tourism Organization.

The National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia (NCFA), along with five Armenian travel agencies, represented Armenia at World Travel Market annual exhibition.

Armenia and Artsakh shared a joint booth, NCFA Public Relations Office reported.

This year, about 5000 international exhibitors representing 186 countries and regions and more than 50,000 global travel professionals are expected to take part in the exhibition.

The cultural, historical and Christian heritage of Armenia and Artsakh were presented in travel guides and maps in English during the event.

Participation in this leading exhibition aims to promote the tourism of Armenia and Artsakh in the European market and contribute to the growth of tourist inflow, NCFA says.
