Karabakh Defense Ministry reports unannounced Azeri lossesJanuary 24, 2015 - 15:45 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Over 2500 instances of ceasefire violation by Azeri armed forces were posted on the week of January 19-24 at the line of contact with the Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) armed forces. Azerbaijan fired over 20,000 shots from various caliber weapons and took over 10 sabotage attempts which were thwarted by Karabakh forces. As the NKR Defense Ministry reported citing its own data, at least 14 were killed and 20 injured on Azeri side, with Baku failing to announce the losses in accordance to with a presidential ruling dated September 24, 2014. The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan broke out as result of the ethnic cleansing launched by the Azeri authorities in the final years of the Soviet Union. The Karabakh War was fought from 1991 (when the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was proclaimed) to 1994 (when a ceasefire was sealed by Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan). Most of Nagorno Karabakh and a security zone consisting of 7 regions are now under control of NKR defense army.
