Karabakh Defense Ministry refutes Azeri allegations of overnight raidMarch 12, 2015 - 15:04 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Nagorno Karabakh Republic (NKR) Defense Ministry refuted allegations of a raid attempt by its defense army, ARKA reports. “The information spread by Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry alleging that NKR’s defense army subdivisions attempted a raid on Azeri positions overnight is untrue. It is another fruit of Azerbaijani propaganda's sick imagination,” Karabakh Defense Ministry statement says. Over 200 instances of ceasefire violation by Azerbaijani troops were reported on the night of March 12. Azerbaijan fired 4000 shots from various caliber weapons, including 60-mm grenade launchers “The frontline divisions of NKR Army of Defense are in control of the operational-tactical situation,” the report says. According to Karabakh Defense Ministry, full responsibility for the frontline tensions lies with the Azerbaijani side. The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan broke out as result of the ethnic cleansing launched by the Azeri authorities in the final years of the Soviet Union. The Karabakh War was fought from 1991 (when the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was proclaimed) to 1994 (when a ceasefire was sealed by Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan). Most of Nagorno Karabakh and a security zone consisting of 7 regions are now under control of NKR defense army.
