Erdogan “can’t forgive” Putin’s visit to Armenia on Genocide centennial

PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with historians, with “the events of 1915” on the discussion agenda, Milliyet reports.

As historian Mustafa Armagan told journalists upon completion of the meeting, the president stated that in case of necessity, Turkey may withdraw its ambassador from Russia.

“If necessary, Turkey may review its diplomatic ties with Russia by recalling the envoy and continue relations on the consular or chargé d'affaires level,” Erdogan said, according to Tert.am.

“Today we mourn with the Armenian people. Russia has always had its consistent position, and continues doing so. We have always considered that mass killings are impossible to justify in any ways,” Putin said in his speech during the Armenian Genocide centennial events in Tsisternakaberd.

It’s become a tradition with Turkey to recall ambassadors from the courtiers who recognize the Genocide. May 7 saw Ankara withdraw the Turkish envoy from Luxembourg over the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
