Ways to promote Armenian-Greek cooperation discussed in Thessaloniki

PanARMENIAN.Net - An official meeting of the Second Vice President of the Hellenic-Armenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Akis T. Dagazian with the Deputy Secretary General for International Economic Relations and Development Strategy of the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs Petros Triarchis took place last week in Thessaloniki.

The two men discussed several ways to promote bilateral trade and economic relations which - despite the strong historical ties between the two countries - remain quite limited.

Dagazian had the chance to brief Triarchis about the investment opportunities and cooperation possibilities that Armenia has to show in the fields of energy, construction, mining, tourism, services and major public construction works. Moreover, he analyzed how a targeted promotion of Greek products into the emerging market of Armenia can be developed with the coordination between the Greek ministries or governmental agencies and the Chamber.

The issue of the participation of Armenia in the Eurasian Economic Union was extensively discussed along with the prospects which are opening for the Greek companies to utilize Armenia as a gateway to this vast market of 180 million consumers.

Finally, Dagazian extended his appreciation to the Deputy Secretary General for the continuous contribution of all previous and current Commercial Attachés that have served in the Embassy of the Hellenic Republic in Armenia, for all actions the Chamber has undertook up to now.

The two sides agreed to a closer cooperation as well as to take joint actions in order to strengthen bilateral economic relations.
