EP Vice-President: Armenia to benefit from any agreement with EU

PanARMENIAN.Net - Any agreement signed with the EU will allow Armenian authorities to balance between Moscow and Brussels, Vice-President of the European Parliament (EP), Ryszard Czarnecki said.

“Armenia should sign this document, as the country will benefit from any agreement with the EU,” Czarnecki said, according to Tert.am.

Earlier, Luxembourg’s Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn said the European Union is preparing a new version of agreements with Armenia, which will bind the country and the EU far less than the association agreement.

Eastern Partnership

The Eastern Partnership (EaP) is the first comprehensive initiative introduced into the system of the European Union’s external relations, addressed to Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The Eastern Partnership is designed to help the countries of Eastern Europe and South Caucasus with their approximation to and integration with the European Union. The EaP has injected a new quality into relations between the EU and the countries covered by the initiative through their gradual integration with the European Union.
