Russia to create regional air defense system with Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russia plans to create a joint regional air defense system with Armenia and two other allies in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

The project of the Armenian-Russian agreement on the joint system in the Caucasus is ready for signing, TASS reports.

The next meeting of the CIS Defense Ministers Councils' Coordinating Committee on the joint regional air defense system will be held in April 2016 in Tver.

According to Lieutenant General Pavel Kurachenko, Deputy Commander of the Russian Air-Space Forces, Russia and Kazakhstan are now developing the legal basis for their joint air defense system, with a corresponding agreement between the two nations signed in 2013.
