VivaCell-MTS sponsors Int'l Microelectronics Olympiad in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - VivaCell-MTS was the General Partner of the 10th Annual International Microelectronics Olympiad of Armenia, the final stage of which took place at the Yerevan Computer Research and Development Institute. The Olympiad was organized by Synopsis Armenia.

VivaCell-MTS undertook the general partnership of the Olympiad in 2010 donating more than AMD 54 200 000 for organizing the annual event throughout six years. This year the Olympiad involved young participants from 29 countries: Argentina, Armenia, Artsakh, Belarus, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Egypt, Georgia, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Malaysia, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Switzerland, UAE, UK, Ukraine, Uruguay, USA, and Vietnam.

The Olympiad plays an important role in microelectronics education and stimulates further development of the sector in Armenia and participating countries. The annual event aims to enlarge the international community of young specialists of microelectronics, as well as evaluate the participants’ knowledge to make necessary adjustments in the regional educational programs.

“I would like to welcome our guests - talented young people from different countries gathered here to take part in a healthy competition,” VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian said. “The major idea behind our company’s long-term support for microelectronics lies in quite a rational argument – microelectronics along with IT and telecommunications has a potential to boost Armenia’s economic development and steady growth. We are really proud to be part of this initiative.”

Olympiad topics for 2015 included Digital IC Design and Test, Analog and Mixed-Signal IC Design and Test, Semiconductor Devices and Technology, and Mathematic and Algorithmic Issues of Electronic Design Automation (EDA).

The winners of the 10th Annual International Microelectronics Olympiad of Armenia were awarded at a gala evening. The winner of the first prize received a laptop from VivaCell-MTS.
