PanARMENIAN.Net - Emma Stone is close to testing whether "Love May Fail". The "Magic in the Moonlight" actress is circling a starring role in the adaptation of a novel by "Silver Linings Playbook" author Matthew Quick, AceShowbiz reports.

The drama follows a woman named Portia Kane who leaves behind her ritzy life and cheating husband in Florida to return to her hometown in South Jersey. As she moves back to her childhood home, the woman helps her high school English teacher gets his life back together after his career is tarnished by a classroom scandal.

The script is written by Mike White whose writing credit includes Jack Black's "The School of Rock" and Jennifer Aniston's "The Good Girl". No director is appointed yet at this point. Matthew Tolmach and Elizabeth Cantillon are producing the pic. Stone had worked with Tolmach before in "The Amazing Spider-Man" and with the studio in "Zombieland" and "Superbad".

"Love May Fail" the novel was released in June this year. Sony Pictures won a fierce bid to adapt the novel for a movie back in 2013. Hannah Minghella brought the script when she moved from Sony's subsidiary Columbia Pictures to the studio's other division TriStar, Deadline reported.
