Marking the start of France’s awards season, the Louis Delluc Prize is headed by Gilles Jacob, who presided Cannes Film Festival for 15 years. Its jury is made up of French film critics. “My Golden Years”, which opened at Cannes’ Directors Fortnight, stars Matthieu Amalric. “The Measure of a Man” competed at Cannes and earned its leading thesp Vincent Lindon a best actor nod. “Marguerite” played at Venice. Bruno Podalydès’s “The Sweet Escape,” Antoine Barraud’s “Portrait of an Artist,” Philippe Faucon’s “Fatima” and Rithy Panh’s “L’Image manquante” round up the Louis Delluc competition lineup. Missing from the roster is Jacques Audiard’s “Dheepan” which won the Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival. Meanwhile, Deniz Gamze Erguven’s Directors’ Fortnight player “Mustang” and Clément Cogitore’s Cannes Critics’ Week title “The Wakhan Front” will vie for the Louis Delluc prize for best first films. “Mustang” represents France in the foreign-language Oscar race.
