VivaCell-MTS, FPWC improve water supply network in rural communities

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) and VivaCell-MTS have successfully implemented a joint project, aimed at improving water supply network in rural communities.

As part of the program, a water supply main system and an internal water supply feeder pipeline with a total length of 4 km were built in Tsovagyugh community, Gegharkunik province.

VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian, the Founder of FPWC Ruben Khachatryan, Tsovagyugh community head Vahram Gevorgyan, as well as community residents attended the waterline opening ceremony.

“Realizing the importance and need for balanced development of provinces and the capital, VivaCell-MTS has launched a number of joint projects with partner organizations,” Yirikian said. “In our projects, we focus on creating vital infrastructure, at the same time improving the existing ones. Almost half of Tsovagyugh community was deprived of stable water supply for many years, but from now on, several public institutions and 250 families will have drinking water.”

The project implemented in the community includes water pipeline reconstruction, aimed to increase water resources. Also, a water metric system will be installed to save water. Together, the systems will help use the water resources more efficiently and supply stable water to a larger number of families.

A part of the work, a 4 km long pipeline has already been installed. As a result, the kindergarten, the school, the clinic, the village council building and about 250 houses have been provided with 10-hour water supply. After the installation of the metric system in early 2016, some of Tsovagyugh residents will have a 24-hour and the others - a 12-hour water supply.

In 2015 Chkalov community in Lori province has also been provided with sustainable water supply in the framework of community development program jointly implemented by FPWC and VivaCell-MTS. Construction works are still underway in four more communities in different provinces of Armenia.
